WHERE IT ALL BEGAN

The Tern Valley Vintage Machinery Trust itself was originally formed by a group of enthusiasts in the summer of 1979 as the Tern Valley Vintage Machinery Club.  The main aim was to be a means of uniting all like-minded Vintage enthusiasts in the area to display their machinery as a group at various Vintage Shows and Rally’s, including the setting up and running of their own Annual Show. The logo adopted by the Trust (or Club as it was known in those early days) depicts a John Deer model ‘D’ tractor crossing the bridge by the Church in the village of Stoke on Tern in Shropshire, the village where the Trust was to hold its monthly Members and Committee Meetings in the Village Hall for many years.  In fact, the Trust (as it has now become) still holds its Members Meetings once a month in the same hall

Over the years the Club has expanded and changed its name and constitution, first by becoming a Company limited by guarantee as a way of protecting its Members and then by obtaining charitable status, appointing Trustees and changing the group name from ‘…Club Ltd.’ to ‘…Trust Ltd.’.  The Annual Show also grew in size, outgrowing the small early farm field site to spend several years at Sugnall Parks near Eccleshall before returning to its home county of Shropshire in 2012 at the then brand new venue of Chetwynd Deer Park, Newport where the Annual Show is still being held every August under the authorisation of the National Traction Engine Trust

The Trust always welcomes new Members, so why not come along to one of the Members Evenings at Stoke on Tern, held on the first Tuesday of each month, where you will be entertained by either a film show or guest speaker together with tea and biscuits and good company.  For more details of Membership please contact our Membership Secretary, Charlie Buchan, on 07828 984138 or 01952 550619
